Our dogs
In Cerro del Viento the modern and organized breeding of the Spanish Mastiff considers that this dog is a working animal. Apart from morphologic beautiful dogs, it is absolutely fundamental that the Spanish Mastiffs are enabled to develop the facilities that are expected of them: They have to be functional whether they take care of cattle, properties or their destiny is to accompany a family in the tranquillity of their home.
Therefore, the health and the typical character of the race are two aspects to which we pay the maximum attention when planning the crossings. We love agile, great, harmonious and beautiful brave dogs with genius, the typical head and a good body structure. They should mainly be prepared to walk as long as necessary and be psychically prepared to integrate themselves in the flocks and to defend them in their ancestral environment.
The dogs we showing on this website are the result of an intensive dedication and effort in that sense. Some dogs approach this ideal more than others, but our breeding takes into account a search of that ideal: Long and innumerable trips to find a suitable male for our females on heat; uncountable hours during the birth company, with the same illusion as if it would be the first one. Once everything has worked well, an affectionate care of the puppies and much dedication are necessary also by the family which see them growing up and prospering till they are delivered. One of them nearly always remains with us, in order to be presented later on dog exhibitions. With Loba, Laña, Gandalf, Ara, Sirio, Numa, Blai and some more we travelled to many geographical places of Spain and participated at championships of the AEPME (The Spanish Mastiffclub) and national dog exhibitions of the RSCE
(The Official Spanish Dog Association) with EXCELLENT results.
